Yo Concordians!!
Whose craving Chinese?! I know I was last Friday...Sometimes I just get those cravings you know? I even had to get again yesterday because it was super tasty!
I was craving some Chinese but not my usual Ranch 99 Chow Mein run I normally do. I wanted something a little bit more. Like Chow Fun Noodles. I love me some Chow Fun. Beef Chow Fun is easily my favorite when it comes to Chinese Food. So I was overjoyed when I came here and Shan Shan did it justice. The noodles all had an even coating of sauce. The texture of the noodles and veggies were cooked perfectly. Most of all, the beef pieces were big but cut extremely thin which blends well if everything else in the dish. I felt every time I order it, I always get a good amount of beef as well. I've always read horror stories of people ordering a dish and only getting only a handful of meat pieces which sounds like blasphemy to me. However I am super happy I have yet to encounter this scenario.
Now that I'm off my diet for a bit, I'm super happy that I'm able to get back into the groove of things and try some restaurants in the area that I've never tried before. I definitely content knowing that I have a solid Chinese Food spot that is walking distance from my work! -

I was looking for a good chineese restuarant in the area without going to Walnut Creek. SHAN SHAN LOW
restuarant came up , so I tried it. It's true that the food wasn't bad, but to take the words of another reviewer,
I was underwhelmed. I had the Kung Pao shrimp which was ok but did not really deliver powerful flavor which
is the point of Kung Pao. The Won Ton soup had a hard core, but the noodle
was light. The tea was good and the waitress was attentive. I might give this restaurant another try in the future. -

I used to really like this restaurant, especially becase there's a lunch special, but I went recently and was quite underwhelmed. This is confusing because I remember likeing the food in the past.
We all ordered the lunch special, which comes with soup, and among us, we ordered the broccoli beef, black bean prawns and Mongolian beef. I felt like the beef wasn't the best quality. The sauce was fine for all three of the dishes and it's tough to mess up vegetables, but the beef was quite rough to eat. The prawns were also just ok.
They mostly kept the tea refilled but the rest of the experience was underwhelming. I'll probably go back and try other dishes because it's hard to find good Chinese food in the area. -

The lunch started off quite good with free wonton soup for each of us and free eggrolls. Wontons were good and the eggroll which was full of cabbage was conventional tasting. They were more than generous. The first dish we ordered which was mushrooms with Chinese greens were surprisingly flavorful for such a healthy dish. We both couldn't get enough of it. The ginger and scallion steamed chicken came out and that's when everything went bad. The chicken looked okay but it tasted stale and it was so dry that it tasted like overcooked refreshed chicken. They took chicken that was days old and then steamed it too long. There was zero moisture in the chicken and literally tasted like chicken that was boiled to death. My partner wanted to cough just swallowing the dry hard chicken. The flavor was really off, the chicken tasted stale and bland. Worse chicken I ever had in a restaurant. Yes, it's cheap for 10.50 for half a chicken but I'm pretty sure eating hay would have better texture than this chicken. It was not even edible. We left the entire dish untouched and when the waiter asked if we wanted to take it home, it was a firm no. Unfortunately, we can't come back. No chef should serve food that is inedible.
